Default Foreign lang: Chinese or Japanese?

I tried studying both and I would have to say Chinese is a "better" language than Japanese. If you learn it in full, including the writing system then it is surely harder than Japanese but they're both super hard. I found that Chinese has a much more advanced grammar system and the patterns in the writing system make sense more. Through learning Japanese I couldn't help asking myself 'why is it like that??' all the time but Chinese seemed so well designed.

Chinese is also fun to learn because of all the tones whereas Japanese will annoy you with all the different ways to speak to different people depending on their age etc.

Chinese is more international, but Japanese wouldn't hurt either since they have a good economy and what not. Japanese is easier (although with longer words) because in Chinese, you have to learn a symbol for EVERY word. Oh, and Chinese is tonal, this means that a word can change its meaning just by changing it the tone, which makes it twice as hard!

PS: I'm an IB student too!

I know how to speak Chinese language. They are easy to learn when it comes to mltiplication tables.
I know a little beat of Japanese language. Sometimes, they have the same pronunciations of words.
