Default question about red earred slider turtle?

i've had a hatchling sized red earred slider for a while ( 2 months) now... his/her skin just started getting like peely looking, and lighter in color. is this normal?& i went to china town and saw more small red earred sliders (theyre about the same size). i was going to by it and put it in the same tank as the one i have, but i was conflicted with the question of whether it was imported and had an outside disease. could i buy it and put them in the same tank?

Default question about red earred slider turtle?

Here is someone who answered another person about red eared slider's diet and about molting. Molting is normal according to this person. (thats at the bottom of the answer)http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071130131506AA5y5Ao

i had my turtle since it was 2 weeks old and it is now 7. i think its normal though dont worry!bring the new turtle to a vetto see if the disease is contagious, so if itis, then dont put them in the sametank.

RES get really big and the more important question is...are you going to be able to get a large enough tank/pond for two? If so there should be no problem with putting them together. They probably originated at the same turtle farm in Luisiana. Not asia. But no it shouldn't look like you describe.
