I find it to be hypocritical. I didn't find out into this morning. I don't think it's right that US backed Colombia forces are spraying pesticides all over the country damaging the ecosystem, killing peasants with over-fumigation, and destroying bananas and yuca that the natives there eat while the Coca Cola company can import coca with no problems. Some of you need to learn. COCA and COCAINE are not the same thing. The Coca Cola company still uses COCA leaf extract in their products. My question is; WHY are they allowed to do so?I'm sorry to have to embarrass half of you, but take a look if you don't believe me: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=940DE6D7123BF932A35754C0A96E9482 60 Coca Cola still imports coca.

Coca is no longer an ingredient in Coke and hasn't been for many years...

Actually, it is imported mainly from Peru, some from Bolivia. To this day, Coca-Cola uses as an ingredient a cocaine-free coca leaf extract prepared at a Stepan Company plant in Maywood, New Jersey. Why? Powerful lobbyists in DC buying politicians.

For the same reson that poppy seed bagels are allowed. I guess crops dedicated for consumer consumption in food products are allowed to be legally imported. Even hemp products can be sold in the USA. I see hemp seed oil and hemp seed sold at organic food stores. But god forbid an American farmer wants to grow hemp, he is screwed, only Canadian farmers can grow hemp I guess.
