Default Silk producers spin export profits

In front of the booths selling silknoil-yarn, many buyers are gathering to negotiate with sellers at the China Import and Export Fair.

Silk-noil-yarn is a traditional Chinese product that looks like cotton but is softer and lighter weight.

Exports from Zhejiang, Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Fujian account for 80 percent of the total volume of yarn in China.

Most exports of the product head to Japan, Hong Kong, the Europe and the United States, but the export volume to South Korea, Macau, the United Arab Emirates and Australia is also increasing.

"Our products are mostly exported to Japan with annual export value of more than $1 million," one salesperson said.

A staff member at a booth for a Chaozhou company says: "Americans like designs with azaleas, camellia and roses. They like popular colors and buy products with different colors for different seasons. Most Americans like demitint and light colors."

"Families in Germany use silknoil-yarn to decorate guest rooms and kitchens, with the best sales are during the Christmas and the Easter. The French use silk products for curtains,"
an exhibitor from Zhejiang said.

Industry watchers say silk-noilyarn companies from Guangdong, Zhejiang and Fujian need to improve their independent innovation ability, enhance competitiveness and improve computer-aided design cabilities.

At the same time silk companies should spread traditional culture and improve brand awareness, they added.
